Getting Settled

Hey everyone! I hope all is well.

It is about 10:30 am on our third day here in Maizuru. Yesterday was a big long day but we had a lot of fun and got to know the neighbourhood a little bit.

Keiko picked us up in the morning after we enjoyed some frosted flakes and cocoa puffs and we made our way to a couple of second hand shops with an eye to buy some bicycles. Unfortunately, second-hand doesn't seem to alter the prices very significantly so we ended up at a department store where I bought a bike. Georgia is going to get one in a couple of days when we are able to make it back to the store (for now she is borrowing Keiko's).

After we finished up shopping we met our boss Mark in person for the first time (it should be noted that Keiko is also our boss). He is a really great guy and we went over a few details about what to expect and how we are going to set up a schedule. We got off to a bit of a bad start with our job, but we're committed to being great teachers so we'll just keep trying.

We went on two biking adventures to get a handle on our area of the city (it is a much bigger city than we thought). Eventually we got to another department store and bought some pillows (which made last night's sleep much more comfortable) and a little compartment for our stuff in the bathroom.

Other than that we haven't been to any bars or restaurants or anything yet. We do not have a bank account set up, so we are still trying to be very careful with our money. Now we are going to go to an electronics store to buy a mouse and maybe a reading lamp.

Lazy snoring Jim-san
